Grins take over poker faces > Players at Taco Bron gamble to win five nights a week < By Jill Torrance Arizona Daily STar Tucson, Arizona | Published: 06.18.2009

Players of all ages and skill level trickled Friday into a brightly painted yellow room where a half-dozen poker tables were set up for a poker tournament. The tournament at Taco Bron, 6910 E. Tanque Verde Road, was presented by Poker Pub of Tucson, a free no-limit Texas Hold 'Em league. The players signed in, got their chips and greeted each other warmly. Most of the them are regular players at Taco Bron, and many admit to being poker junkies. "I probably play poker seven nights a week," said Elizabeth Webb, who started playing a year ago. "It gets me away from negative junk and I like the people." "It's really about people getting out and having a good time," said Taco Bron general manager Jim Owen. "It's fun and free." The tournaments are open to players with all levels of experience. "Everyone is really open — they like to help and give advice," said Jessica Landry, tournament director from Poker Pub of Tucson. Taco Bron hosts poker tournaments at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.
